David Cooney


David joined Dynafour Real Estate Limited, which is now Cushman & Wakefield Edmonton, in 1994 and has been a Partner of the firm since 2002. David is an integral part of the Retail and Investment Divisions and has been an active participant in the management of the Cushman & Wakefield Edmonton Partnership. Over David’s 30-year career in commercial real estate, he has gained significant expertise and insight into retail leasing and investment sales. David has assisted national companies with site selection such as H-Mart, helping them establish their 42,000 sq.ft. flagship store in south Edmonton, in addition to two other Alberta locations, Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall and regional brands such as Soul 2 Sole Massage and Wellness and many other professional and retail tenants throughout Alberta. David works extensively with regional and national Landlords such as, RioCan, Qualico, First Capital, OSC Properties and Citicorp Management, in addition to assisting many locally focused Landlords. Due to his, and Cushman & Wakefield’s national reach, David assists The Strongman Group in directing their national strategy for leasing, acquisitions and dispositions. David’s work in investment sales, primarily focused on the retail sector, has resulted in the sale of over $400 million in shopping centres. He has assisted Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) and Servus Credit Union, in the sale of various distressed properties, through the court process. He has also assisted national, regional and local purchasers in identifying investment opportunities that meet their investment goals. David has been a regular instructor at the University of Alberta - School of Business in the Real Estate Program and is an original member of the committee which developed the content for the real estate program at the U of A. David is also member of the International Council of Shopping Centres.
